A captcha question provide a means to ensure that the respondent is not spider or a robot. Even though a captcha requires an input from the user, no actual data is recorded in the database. Therefore the captcha is categorized as a presentation element rather than as a a question.
When a survey page contains a captcha, the participant will not be able to proceed to the next page until they correctly enter the characters shown to them as an image by the captcha presentation element.
